Workplace cafes designed by the world’s leading architects and interior designers are becoming an integral feature of today’s workplace. In this session, we’ll look at some of the most innovative and appealing new designs, including fixtures, lighting, equipment, seating and other elements that make the workplace cafe more than just a break room.

Alex Poon is a “human experience” designer with an interest in the processes and technologies that shape projects from inception through completion. Alex utilizes his 20+ years of architectural background and interior design experience to create thought provoking designs that harmonize with the project master plan, landscaping, interior design, environmental graphic design, and industrial design. The result is a holistic, cohesive user experience.

Alex prides his balanced and collaborative design approach with teams, consultants, and clients. He believes beautiful design is realized through thoughtful research, strategy and investigation, measured with design composition, grace, and intuition.

Alex provides a unique industry perspective that spans a diverse portfolio of project types.  He has worked on projects across the globe for world-class clients, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros., Riot Games, Hyundai Card, and NASA/JPL, and he recently led the design efforts for the creation of Gensler Los Angeles’ downtown LA unified campus. Alex has received widespread recognition for many of his projects, including honors and awards from the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the International Real Estate Federation, and Bentley Systems.
